It is important to always wear a lifejacket or buoyancy aid when on the water, or when involved in activites where you may end up in the water. Lifejackets provide you with extra buoyancy on the front of the jacket, with the addition of a floating hood or collar to keep your head out of the water. Our lifejackets are bright in colour (High Viz Orange) with refelctive stips to ensure maximum visabilty on the water. Buoyancy Aids are used when taking part in water based activites such as sailing, kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddling etc. Buoyancy aids are a specialist type of personal flotation device that are used to help the person float but should not be used as a lifesaving device.
All our lifejackets and buoyancy aids are approved in all sizes according to the latest standard EN ISO 12402.
The buoyancy of a lifejacket is measured in the Newton unit. A lifejacket must have sufficient buoyancy to keep the user's airways above the surface. The vests are divided into different classes depending on the amount of buoyancy, though the actual Newton's number may vary depending on the size of the vest.
