This is basically Anderson's Spent with the addition of a high quality dyed red hackle tied in at the bend which is a great aid to flotation. The original beautiful spent gnat pattern was invented by Sam Anderson from Clabby. Originally invented for Lough Erne, Co. Fermanagh where Sam fished in the 1950's and 1960's it is now a firm favourite everywhere. The dressing is in E.J.Malone's "Irish Trout And Salmon Flies" along with many beautiful mayfly patterns. The body on this fly is given a realistic translucency by a covering of clear plastic.
