Flies with hackles tied palmer style down the body have been about as long as fly dressing itself. With my deer tail range of bumbles I have included soft grouse hackles at the front of the flies and wings of natural deer hair. This combination gives these patterns great mobility and buoyancy that make them very effective patterns for fishing in the surface film.
